Jeffrey Whitmire Solos at Concord 11/17/2009Jeffrey Whitmire successfully completed his Private check ride with FAA designated examiner Larry Morris on Monday March 22nd at Concord. Jeff an Engineer with AT&T began his quest for his private license in August of 2009, was undeterred by a flat nose wheel tire on Cessna N5268D at Albemarle during his check ride. Jeff was supported by his instructor David Calhoun. We all take pride in Jeff’s success and look forward to supporting him to attain his instrument rating and other aviation goals. Please acknowledge this significant aviation accomplishment when you see him. Also note that Jeff has officially joined the club at the Bronze level.

Patrick's examiner was Larry Morris of Concord. Patrick and Darrin are full speed ahead to start working on his INSTRUMENT RATING. WELCOME PATRICK AS A NEW FLYCAROLINA MEMBER AND PILOT. George is an Engineer with Shaw Group who supports the power industry.He began his flying career in gliders and began flying in his favorite aircraft Cherokee N3663R in November 2008 with Instructor Frank de Almeida. Although work related jobs took him to Scotland and Massachusetts he continued to fly at those locations. His dedication and perseverance were demonstrated on his outstanding check ride. We all take pride in George’s success and look forward to supporting him to attain his instrument rating and other aviation goals. Please acknowledge this significant aviation accomplishment when you see him. Also note that George has officially joined the club at the Silver Level.

New Instrument Pilot at Rock Hill 2/3/2010

Shanda Proulx, newly rated Instrument Pilot... completed her rating just days before Rock Hill Aviation closed, stranding her and many students and pilots. Shanda is now a FlyCarolina member and is starting to check out in the various Bronze level aircraft. Look for Shanda at the FlyCarolina - Rock Hill location... She will be there mid-day most Saturday and Sundays, meeting and greeting and spreading her infectious enthusiasm for flying and FlyCarolina. Word is that she loves to bake cookies, so be sure to see if she has brought any.

Congratulations to John and to his instructor Rick Cassels. John who aspires to fly with the US.Military plans to continue his training to obtain an Instrument Rating. Two New Private Pilots at Concord 11/25/2009

Andrey Kharabar successfully completed his Private check ride with FAA designated examiner Larry Morris on Tuesday November 24th at Concord. Alexandr Harabari successfully completed his Private check ride with FAA designated examiner Larry Morris on Wednesday November 25th at Concord. Both Andrey and Alexandr began their flying career with Fly Carolina in September of 2008. Both have worked diligently with instructor Frank de Almeida and was commended on their exceptional performance. We continued to take pride in this type of performance and look forward to supporting both of them to attain additional ratings.

Solo at Concord 11/6/2009
images2009/ScottMalizia_Solo.jpgCongratulations to Student Pilot Scott Malizia, who did successfully, with style and grace, complete three takeoffs and landings as the sole occupant and pilot in command of a Cessna-172 N5268D at Concord November 6,2009. Scott, an Officer in the local CAP has several hundred hours in the back seat of a Cessna. We re extremely glad to see him move up to the Pilots position and look forward to supporting him to finish his Private license. Scott s instructor at Concord is David Calhoun.
